Paul is a writer, copywriter, artist and creative content director with 13 years of editorial and marketing experience.
Paul was conceived on a naval base in Pensacola, Florida and born on the Upper East Side of Manhattan Island. He attended art classes at the Metropolitan Museum of Art at age five—not surprisingly he ultimately got his undergraduate degree in oil painting and art history. He then formed an avant-garde rock band and performed often at the legendary CBGBs among other famous now-closed venues while concurrently exhibiting his line of decorative home accessories and painted furniture based on ancient Greek red-figure vases. To further steep himself in this Classical world he studied ancient Greek at New York University. Featured in The New York Times, Paul’s designs were sold at galleries and boutiques from New York to Palm Beach. During these eclectic years, Paul began to dedicate himself to writing and soon received encouragement when he was named a finalist for the Heekins Award for novel-in-progress. After receiving back-to-back grants for writing, he focused on storytelling. A fellowship for fiction to Hawthornden Castle in Scotland and a Ludwig Vogelstein Grant for fiction (the grantor increased the amount he requested, allowing him an extended stay in Paris and Versailles to continue his research and talk his way into forbidden areas) confirmed his fate as a writer.
Before finding his way as a creative, Paul worked at a law firm, boutique PR company, architectural lighting and design studio, he managed Malmaison Antiques, an exclusive shop owned by the late fashion photographer Roger Prigent, where he liaised with clients such as Gianni Versace, Lee Radziwill, European royalty, Hollywood celebrities and top New York decorators, handling everything from sales and advertising to auction-house deliveries and accounting. He’s also been a barista in Hell’s Kitchen and recommends adding a splash of orange-blossom water to your cup of morning coffee.
Paul is a Cancer with a Leo moon. He is left-handed.
